Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) has received the Government–Private Partner of the Year Award at the 2026 Nigerian Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC) Annual Energy Conference and Awards, marking the second consecutive year the company has received an award from the association for its contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector.
At the 2026 awards ceremony which held during the NAEC annual conference at Eko Hotels Lagos on Thursday, 8th of October; SEEPCO was recognised for its strategic collaboration with government institutions to strengthen maritime security, enhance the capacity of the Nigerian Navy and safeguard Nigeria’s oil and gas assets.
The award acknowledges the company’s collaboration with government institutions to promote security, stability and operational continuity in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector.
The latest recognition follows SEEPCO’s receipt of the Sustainability Company of the Year Award at the 2025 NAEC Awards, which recognised the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts. Details of these initiatives are available in the company’s 2025 Sustainability Report.
Nigerian Navy Partnership Supports Maritime Security
SEEPCO’s partnership with the Nigerian Navy on the KALI Series Security Support Vessels, designed and built in Delta State, Nigeria, reflects its collaborative approach to protecting critical energy assets.
The initiative supports local content development, strengthens indigenous capabilities and enhances the protection of Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure.
The recognition at the NAEC conference also highlights the importance of effective collaboration between industry operators and government institutions in supporting security, stability and operational continuity within the country’s energy sector.
SEEPCO Emphasises Access to Energy Assets and Industry Growth
During the conference, SEEPCO’s goodwill message, delivered by Dr Jite Orimiono, General Manager, Human Resources and Industrial Relations, commended NAEC for providing a platform for meaningful discussions on the future of Nigeria’s energy sector.
In line with the conference theme, “Access to Assets: Empowering Players and Driving Growth,” the message highlighted the importance of access to energy assets in unlocking investment, strengthening indigenous participation, creating opportunities across the value chain and driving sustainable economic growth.
It also emphasised that the growth of Nigeria’s energy sector goes beyond production to include strong partnerships, local capacity development, energy asset security and a shared commitment to creating lasting value for communities and the nation.
The message further acknowledged the media’s role in fostering informed conversations, promoting accountability and highlighting developments across the industry.
Sustainability and Community Development Initiatives
SEEPCO’s 2025 Sustainability Company of the Year Award recognised its efforts in sustainability. The company continues to advance its sustainability commitments through environmental initiatives, community development programmes and partnerships aimed at creating lasting value for stakeholders.
These efforts include reducing its environmental footprint, improving resource efficiency and promoting responsible operations.
In line with this commitment, SEEPCO launched the SEEPCO SMILE Campaign in 2025 in partnership with NAEC, extending its community-focused engagements with the stated aim of bringing smiles to communities at the last mile with each barrel.
